Biography
Anastasia Kurkova was born in Moscow and received her professional ballet training at the Natalia Nesterova Dance Academy in Moscow. Upon graduation, she joined the Bolshoi Theatre (2002–2007), where she built an extensive solo classical repertoire based on the masterpiece choreography of Marius Petipa and Yuri Grigorovich. During her time at the Bolshoi, she was mentored by legendary pedagogues and repetiteurs, including People’s Artists of Russia Ludmila Semenyaka and Tatiana Golikova.
Following her tenure at the Bolshoi Theatre, Anastasia joined the Vienna State Ballet as a soloist (2007–2008), then continued her soloist career with the State Ballet Berlin (2008–2023) — fifteen years at the heart of Berlin’s ballet life. Her vast performance repertoire seamlessly spans academic classical masterpieces and acclaimed contemporary works. Throughout her career, she has collaborated directly with and performed works by iconic choreographers, including Yuri Grigorovich, Vladimir Vasiliev, Mikhail Lavrovsky, Roland Petit, Pierre Lacotte, John Neumeier, Alexei Ratmansky, Vladimir Malakhov, Yuri Possokhov, Mats Ek, Nacho Duato, Patrice Bart, Ohad Naharin, and many others.
Anastasia has performed on the world’s most prestigious stages, including Palais Garnier (Opéra de Paris), Royal Opera House (Covent Garden, London), the London Coliseum, Metropolitan Opera (New York), Tokyo Bunka Kaikan (Japan), and the Mariinsky Theatre (Saint Petersburg), alongside numerous renowned international venues.
